L&T Readings for First-Year Students Enrolling in Fall 2024
Our summer reading assignments for this year are:
- Mary Shelley's Frankenstein: The 1818 Text (Penguin) (ISBN-13: 978-0143131847). Students should purchase and read Frankenstein before arriving in Annandale.
- Students are also encouraged to purchase Sophocles I: Antigone, edited by David Grene and Richmond Lattimore (University of Chicago Press) (ISBN-13: 978-0226311517). Students should purchase this book and bring it with them in August, but there will be no assigned readings from this book before the program begins. The book will also be available for purchase at the College bookstore during the program.
Transfer Students
Please note: transfer students do not need to purchase books or do any reading ahead of arrival on campus. The work of arriving transfer students in August will be centered around the Language and Thinking Anthology.
