- Sophocles I: Antigone, Oedipus the King, Oedipus at Colonus, edited by David Grene and Richmond Lattimore (University of Chicago Press). 3rd edition. ISBN 978-0-226-31151-7. Students should purchase this book and bring it with them in August, but there will be no assigned readings from this book before the program begins.
- Another book that we will use during the August program will be Daniel Mendelsohn’s An Odyssey: A Father, A Son, and an Epic. All students will receive this book free as a gift from the College. If you haven't received the book by mail, you will be given a copy when you arrive. If you have already received the book, we encourage you to begin reading! We will also read and discuss An Odyssey together during the program.
The edition matters: rely on the ISBN to be sure you are getting the correct edition.
