Applications Are Now Open for 2020

Information for Applicants

  • Teaching Requirements
    Applicants should have a strong interest in general education at the undergraduate level, a commitment to writing as one of the cornerstones of the liberal arts, and an active interest in interdisciplinary research and collaboration. Demonstrated success as a teacher is essential. Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) is preferred. New faculty responsibilities in 2020 include:
    • participation in two weekend meetings (June 5-7 and August 7-9)
    • a one-week training session (July 6-10)
    • intensive full-time teaching during the program (August 10-26)

    2020 Application Instructions
    Applications will be considered on a rolling basis beginning Monday, March 9. We will give preference to applications received by Friday, March 6. To apply to teach in the 2020 Language and Thinking Program, please send all application materials via Interfolio. Completed applications will include all of the following:
    • letter of interest that gives a sense of your teaching philosophy, teaching practices, and approach to diversity and inclusion
    • current CV
    • three letters of recommendation, which should be submitted directly to Interfolio by your references (see link at right for information on submitting recommendations)
    • complete sets of student evaluations from two courses you have taught recently
    • writing sample (prose sample, preferably an essay; no page or content requirement)

    Please contact Interfolio if you have any questions about your application. Please do not contact the Office of Human Resources or the Language and Thinking Program to reset your password or verify that your materials have been received. Interfolio can assist you with your application, and you can log in to your Interfolio account to see if your application is complete at any time.
